Our friends at Snake River Seed provide golden flaxseed that is naturally grown in Idaho and currently undergoing an organic certification process which should be complete in 2009.

We have found that if we grind flax and put it in a dark cool place, we can maintain flax's high nutrient content for longer periods of time, hence the coffee bag. If your ground flax is not stored in a dark place (like inside this coffee bag on the left), your ground flax is losing valuable nutrients that should be used in your body. Whole flax maintains its nutrients until it is ground.

The ideal way to gain the most nutrients is to grind your own flax. You will need a special grinder to do this - not just any grinder will work. Actually, coffee grinders usually work the best to grind flax.
