Remember to keep your flax - both ground and whole in a dark, cool, dry place, preferably in an airtight container and in the fridge or freezer. This way, you can maintain flax's high nutrient content for longer periods of time, and prevent it from rapidly going rancid. That is why we package it in a coffee bag. Also, if your ground flax is not stored in a dark, dry place (like inside this coffee bag on the left), your ground flax is losing valuable nutrients that should be used in your body. Whole flax maintains its nutrients until it is ground.

The ideal way to gain the most nutrients is to grind your own flax. You will need a special grinder to do this - not just any grinder will work. Honestly, coffee grinders work the best to grind flaxseeds.
