Let's Learn More About Each Fact:

1.   Idaho's climate is great for growing flaxseed. Canada is a very large producer of flaxseed. Their climate is quite similar to that of Idaho, so our growers tried it and have experienced success in growing flax.

2.     Omega-3 fats are good for you, right? Well, do you know why? Well, the short answer is that eating more omega-3 fats helps ward off autoimmune diseases, PMS, severe menstrual cramps, heart attacks, and maybe even depression. Usually, the best source for omega-3 fats is found in fish, but for vegetarians, the plant source (found in flaxseed) confers omega-3 benefits and is an excellent source.

3. Studies show that flaxseed will deliver six times the amount of fiber of cooked oatmeal. Oats are supposed to be excellent at helping lower the bad LDL cholesterol. Flaxseed will lower bad cholesterol and keep the good HDL cholesterol where it is at (probably due to the fiber content). Most Americans do NOT get the recommended amount of fiber in their diet. Fiber helps to maintain regularity, reduce the risk of colon cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and even diabetes.

4. I'm not sure I need to say more about this one - except bones are important to our body in everyway. Don't risk bone loss by not getting the right things in your diet.

5. One report claims that you only need to consume 2 Tablespoons of flaxseed per day to shrink existing tumors (from breast cancer or colon cancer) and prevents new ones from starting. Can you imagine?!? Shrink existing tumors and essentially "cancer-proof" your body! It is true. Flax is a super mega-food that benefits your body in so many ways.


Are you convinced? Do you have your years supply yet? Whole flaxseed will last 25-30 years if stored correctly. So, stock up. Flaxseed is much cheaper than any kind of chemotherapy or cancer treatment.


Whole Flaxseed vs. Ground Flaxseed

Whole Flaxseed:
-Eating whole flaxseeds offer a soft, nutty crunch
-Available in prepackaged containers or bulk bins. (Make sure there is good product rotation from bulk bins.)
-Ensure there is no evidence of moisture
-After purchased, store flaxseeds in an airtight container in a dark, cook, and dry place where they will keep fresh for several months, even years

Ground Flaxseeds:
-Eating ground flaxseeds offers your body maximum nutrition absorption
-If you purchase ground flaxseed make sure it is in a vacuum-sealed package or has been refrigerated to prevent spoilage. Or purchase from the grower (us)!
-Keep ground flaxseeds In a tightly sealed container in the fridge or freezer to prevent them from going rancid.

Flaxseed Oil

-Never use flaxseed oil in cooking - add it to foods after they have been heated.
-Purchase in opaque bottles and keep flaxseed oil in the fridge.



How Do I Eat Flax?
How do I get the maximum nutritional value from flaxseed?

First, make sure you eat it ground - otherwise your body cannot absorb all of the extremely beneficial nutrients contained in this tiny seed. (Coffee grinders work great for grinding your own fresh flaxseed.)

Use Golden Ground Flaxseed as a garnish or sprinkled on top of oatmeal, cream of wheat, cold cereal, soups, salads, yogurt or puddings, or cottage cheese.
